Francis of Assisi was an Italian Catholic friar, born in late 1181. His father was a prosperous silk merchant. As a young man, Francis lived the life of a wealthy young man, but during a military expedition in which he was taken prisoner, an illness caused him to re-evaluate his life. He spent some time in lonely places, asking God for spiritual enlightenment. He said he had a mystical vision of Jesus Christ in the forsaken country chapel of San Damiano, just outside Assisi, in which the Icon of Christ Crucified said to him, "Francis, Francis, go and repair My church which, as you can see, is falling into ruins." Here, included in the MiniWorld sets, is a paper model of Francis of Assisi rebuilding the small church of San Damiano, along with a kind villager who came to visit him with a load of stones and a bag of cement.
The building is approximately 24 cm long, 19 cm wide, and 19 cm high, and comes with detailed instructions and photos.

Easy to build paper crafts, recommended for ages 10 on up. Durable enough that once built, even younger children can play with them. After you have downloaded this set, all you will need to do is first print it (some pages on card-stock and others on normal paper, as indicated on the instructions included in the PDF). Then with some basic tools (sharp scissors or a paper cutting knife, a ruler, and simple white glue) you’ll be able to create a diorama scene in no time!
As with all MiniWorld sets, this set is compatible with all the other sets; you can use parts of scenery or accessories from other sets to enhance your diorama.
